With the 2024-2025 school year coming to an end and many students prepare for graduations and summer plans, DRHS Athletics host their yearly awards ceremonies to honor their star athletes. DRHS Golf and Tennis Athlete of the Year Awards for the 2024-2025 school year were the latest award banquet to be held as the academic year closes.

The Breezeway Film Festival is an annual regional film festival held between Del Rio High School, Eagle Pass High School, and CC Winn High School students where talents are showcased through short films and music videos. This year, Del Rio High School students earned 1st and 2nd place in the Short Film categories and 2nd in Music Video.

Last weekend, the Del Rio High School Smokin’ Rams BBQ Club traveled to Burnet, Texas to compete in the Texas High School State Competition where 3 teams: The Smokin’ Rams, The Blue Flame, and Certified Delicious, represented DRHS in the competition, showcasing the skills and recipes they have been practicing under the guidance of their instructor, Chef Adan Cortez for the last few months.

By the beginning of the 2025-2026 school year, Garfield Elementary will be no more as it becomes Garfield Middle School. After catching wind of the news, former Garfield Elementary staff planned a reunion outside the school entrance at 300 W Martin Street while its signage still reads ‘Garfield Elementary’. 

As the 2024-2025 season and school year come to a close, various SFDR-CISD student athletes were honored for their achievements during an award ceremony last week. DRHS athletic director Frenchey McCrea and other coaches presented awards to the powerlifting teams, Queens Soccer, and Rams Soccer.
