With the 2024-2025 school year coming to an end and many students prepare for graduations and summer plans, DRHS Athletics host their yearly awards ceremonies to honor their star athletes. DRHS Golf and Tennis Athlete of the Year Awards for the 2024-2025 school year were the latest award banquet to be held as the academic year closes.

The San Felipe Springs Golf Course has struggled with profitability for years, profits steadily declining since the City of Del Rio acquired ownership in 2015. Major golf course improvements are required, but the municipal business is not profitable enough to reinvest in itself. The San Felipe Spring Golf course has been kept up by money from the city’s General Fund for years. To prevent shutdown or emergency sale, the city is making big changes.

As the 2024-2025 season and school year come to a close, various SFDR-CISD student athletes were honored for their achievements during an award ceremony last week. DRHS athletic director Frenchey McCrea and other coaches presented awards to the powerlifting teams, Queens Soccer, and Rams Soccer.
