F.O.B. Del Rio Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

On Friday, June 20, 2025, F.O.B. Del Rio officially welcomed veterans into their housing community with a grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony for their new tiny homes.

Surrounded by supporters, city officials, and members of the veteran community, this event showcases and represents a renewed commitment to those who served our country. Each home means a new and safe space for each veteran to rebuild, work, and heal themselves from their hardships.

The mission was simple: "to help veterans re-establish their lives for themselves, their families, and communities," as stated in the F.O.B. mission statement. However, the process of completing this mission is something that would take a lot of dedication, collaboration, and hard work to accomplish. With F.O.B.'s execution and support from various community members and organizations, they were able to make their dreams a reality and provide a temporary home for veterans to get back on track.

The project led by F.O.B. (Finding Our Brothers and Sisters) Del Rio aims to provide temporary housing for veterans in the face of homelessness or hardship. The newly operational housing acts as one of the F.O.B.'s most ambitious projects yet. Providing a foundation for veterans in need.

Rate Hike Risk for City Fees and Electricity

Look out for more cost increases on the horizon, by municipal and Investor-Owned Utility (IOU) service providers like American Electric Power (AEP). A Special City Council meeting was held to review the City of Del Rio Schedule of Fees & Charges on June 17, 2025. They are currently in revision and fees will be presented to Council for approval and adoption within the next several weeks. Finance Director Linda Coones explained why some fees are increasing 50% or 100% or more.

Local BBQing Family Treats PD to Free Ribs, More Generosities to Come

A father and his two sons set up outside Del Rio Police Department headquarters Thursday to serve free pork ribs to about 50 officers and staff. Brad Bradley and his sons, C.R. and Heath, formerly owned a thriving barbecue business in the Texas Hill Country. They’ve since relocated to Del Rio, bringing their pitmaster barbecuing skills with them. While they’ll soon offer catering services locally, the Bradleys wanted to give back to the community before thinking about profit.
