Three Juvenile Males, Ages 13-14
On May 18, the DRPD responded to a vehicle burglary that reportedly took place on East 6th Street. Cash, debit cards, and credit cards were stolen. Surveillance footage from the previous night May 17, and a cashier's description, led police to locate three male juveniles attempting to make purchases with the stolen debit card at the local mall. DRPD reports say, “two of the juveniles were taken into custody immediately, while one of the juveniles evaded police… was located and taken into custody.” All three juveniles were charged with multiple counts of Credit/Debit Card Abuse and Burglary of a Motor Vehicle, 11 counts total. The evading juvenile is also facing charges for Evading Arrest or Detention.
The Del Rio Police Department published a press release on May 20 regarding the incident, deeming it a matter of public safety. Reports indicate the 3 kids were acting together, and stated there is evidence of “various transactions made with the stolen debit card totaling over $1,400.00.”

Thomas Layne Aguero, Male, Age 27
A series of petty crime thefts were tied to Aguero after a significant trail of evidence was uncovered. On May 22, DRPD responded to a theft report on Foster Circle involving a stolen bicycle. The suspect, identified as Thomas Layne Aguero, was located about half a mile away from the scene of the crime, with the stolen bicycle still in his possession. He was found to have an outstanding arrest warrant from the Val Verde Sheriff's Office for Theft of Property. Aguero was arrested for the warrant and cited for the theft of the bicycle.
While Aguero was in custody, later the same day, another report came in accusing him of a 3rd theft. Aguero was identified by a business owner who provided store surveillance footage. Allegedly, Aguero stole some Mexican candy, a grenade-shaped paperweight, and a challenge coin… the cameras caught him red-handed. Footage confirmed that Aguero concealed items and left the store without payment. Police were able to recover the stolen paperweight and the stolen bicycle, concretely linking Aguero to 2 of the 3 alleged theft crimes.

After receiving medical clearance from the hospital, Davila was transported to US Border Patrol Headquarters and later to the GEO Correctional Facility, “pending magistration and immigration proceedings.” Davila initially provided a false name to the police but was eventually identified by Border Patrol agents as Alexander Davila.
