Workplace Arrest Occurs in Del Rio: Federal HSI Alien Smuggling Investigation
Del Rio resident and U.S. citizen, Jose Manuel Villanueva, arrived to work as usual on Saturday morning, April 10, 2025. Villanueva clocked in on time around 10:00AM and was scheduled for a double that day. His shift at Long John Silver’s in Del Rio had just begun, when law enforcement agents filed into the establishment and placed him under arrest. Federal agents from Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) led the operation, with support from state and city agencies.

Southwest Water Coalition to hold Major San Felipe Creek Cleanup
Volunteers from the Southwest Water Coalition are hosting a major San Felipe Creek Cleanup on May 24, and everyone in the community is encouraged to participate. Future Outlook for San Felipe Springs Golf Course
The San Felipe Springs Golf Course has struggled with profitability for years, profits steadily declining since the City of Del Rio acquired ownership in 2015. Major golf course improvements are required, but the municipal business is not profitable enough to reinvest in itself.
